European geopolitics: To be or not to be
The existential dilemma in which Europe’s survival depends entirely on its decisions, alliances, actions, and also on its inactions, is the subject of my Weekend Expansion Tribune: European Geopolitics: To be or not to be.
We discussed the European geopolitical situation, the maintenance of relations with the United States and the need to boost investment in defense by mobilizing more financial resources to guarantee peace, the protection of human rights and democratic stability in Europe.
Geopolitical uncertainty, global economic fragmentation, the breakdown of multilateralism and the breakdown of international law are stressing the international community in an unprecedented situation, leading us to a new world order. In the current context Europe should be attentive to what Trump may decide, but it should be more concerned about what he does or, perhaps better, what he does not do.
